Giovanni's Downtown Gelato is an established Italian Gelato & dessert company, setup by co-founders Carmelo & Filippo Gristina.
Our goal was to allow people of Milton Keynes to discover true Italian gelato. Opened in the summer of 2013, Giovanni’s has become known for handmade gelato across Milton Keynes, Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire.
Since then, our reputation has spread fast across MK and beyond delighting many of our loyal and new customers who line up on hot summers days to get a taste of our luxurious handmade gelato and desserts.
Giovanni's is a family run business and has proudly served over 105 flavours of gelato, sorbetti and frozen yogurt all made fresh to order by our team of gelato chefs.

At Giovanni's we view gelato as a special experience, from production to delivery. Our chefs stay true to Italian tradition in their creation of authentic gelato paying close attention to detail.
Our gelato is passionately hand crafted daily to produce lovingly made luxurious flavours certain to excite all tastes.
Each individual unique flavour is carefully balanced through sourcing only the finest ingredients using nature’s own natural colours and flavours, never compromising on taste. Both classic and contemporary flavours are included in our seasonal menus, which are ever growing.
We offer a wide range of hot & cold desserts, from our staple Belgian liège waffles, mini pancakes, fresh Sicilian cannoli to a variety of cold drinks where customers can create their own gelato shake or sorbet smoothie with any flavour of their choice.

Our gelato is a superior product in comparison to ice-cream, why you may ask?
Gelato contains on average 50-60% less fat! Gelato, although much creamier and flavourful than ice-cream actually has fewer calories. Vegetable fat, which is the usual choice for ice-cream is substituted for dairy fat, which poses as a far superior fat content.
Most importantly, artisan gelato has a much higher density than ice cream. Ice-cream manufacturers add air to ice-cream as it nearly doubles the quantity of their product without increasing costs. Unlike ice-cream, very little air is added to our gelato resulting in a higher quality just as nature intended.
In order to enhance taste, gelato is also served slightly warmer than ice-cream, this helps bring out each individual flavour for you to savour for longer.

Every gelato, sorbetto and frozen yogurt we create comes from our kitchen facilities in Luton, Bedfordshire.
We use state of the art technology entrusting each flavour we make with high quality Italian machinery and of course, love from our gelatieres.
Deliveries to our wholesale partners & franchisees across the UK are made via the Giovanni's refrigerated truck, so be sure to give her a wave if you spot us on the road!...

A testament to our product
Here at Giovanni's we are passionate about our love for gelato. We have been honoured to receive many prestigious awards, amongst them an OPAL for best Retail Mall Unit in the UK along with an Annual Visual Victory award in the USA in 2014 for design and brand of our flagship gelato truck.
In 2015, Giovanni's scooped best independent retailer of the year by MKBAA (Milton Keynes Business Achievement Awards) which was truly magnificent achievement.
In 2016 and 2018 we received further recognition for our quality of gelato. Our authentic Sicilian Pistacchio Speciale, Salted Caramel Chocolate Brownie Peanut Butter gelato and Cremino each won a Great Taste Award and was received from The Guild of Fine Foods. In 2022, three stars where awarded to our signature Zabaione al Marsala and Biscotto Speculoos gelato.
These awards are a testament to the company's success, as we grow from strength to strength, we continue to develop new flavours and deliver a true artisan gelato experience for our customers everyday.
